Introducing our CILEx Paralegal Apprentices…
In September 2019, four members of our staff started their CILEx Paralegal Apprenticeships.
The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) is the professional association and governing body for Chartered Legal Executive lawyers, other legal practitioners and paralegals.
CILEX Law School provides a range of apprenticeships, including the Paralegal Apprenticeships.
The Paralegal Apprenticeship was developed as part of the government’s Trailblazer initiative and is available on the Institute for Apprenticeship’s website.
The CILEx Paralegal Apprenticeship is aimed at school leavers who want to study law and have good written English, paralegals or other current employees in customer service or administration who have the potential for development and those who have already completed an intermediate apprenticeship.
It is an exciting opportunity for the members of our staff. Here is a little bit about our new apprentices:
Name: Jessica Kidd
I have worked at Phoenix Legal since September 2018 as a Legal Assistant. Since starting at the firm, I have been able greatly improve on my skills and knowledge due to the help of working with such a close knitted team. Not long ago, I was asked if I would like to take part in the CILEx Paralegal Apprenticeship, which was an offer I could not turn down. I have a huge passion within the field of law, especially Clinical Negligence, this opportunity has allowed me to expand even further and pursue my dreams.
Name: Christopher Smith
I have worked at Phoenix since February 2019 as a paralegal. Since starting at the firm, I have been able to put my degree in law to use, which I achieved in 2017. I have always wanted a career in law, hence why I was so excited to start at a firm at the ground level, with the opportunity to grow with the firm. I was informed by Alisha about the CILEx Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship, which would allow me to further my skills, whilst still doing the job I love. I am excited about this opportunity and am looking forward to progressing on the course.
I worked as a personal assistant/secretary in a law firm for 5 years specialising in personal injury and housing cases. In 2018 I moved onto working in the NHS when I was offered an opportunity by Phoenix Legal Solicitors to take part in the CILEx Paralegal Apprenticeship programme. This was a great opportunity I could not turn down as I missed working in law and have always wanted to train up, to better my knowledge. I currently work in personal injury but would love to get trained up in family law.
Name: Mohammed Khan
I started work at Phoenix Legal in September 2019 as a Legal Assistant. When I started working for Phoenix Legal, I was offered to take part in the CILEx Paralegal Apprenticeship. I accepted this offer and look forward to completing my apprenticeship and in turn broadening my knowledge within the field of law.
We wish Jessica, Christopher, Mariam and Mohammed good luck on their new journey!
