Update on Romeo’s Medical Negligence Claim
In November 2022, we shared the story of Romeo — a young boy whose life was profoundly affected by a delayed diagnosis and treatment that ultimately resulted in the loss of both his lower limbs when he was a toddler. That article detailed the ongoing clinical negligence claim we were pursuing on behalf of Romeo and his family against the Health Board.
We are now pleased to provide an important update regarding this matter.
After extensive discussions and negotiations between the parties, a mutually acceptable outcome has now been reached, and key aspects of the claim have been resolved.
Public Statement from the Health Board
“We are pleased that significant progress has been made towards resolving aspects of this long-running claim. The parties have agreed on a mutually acceptable outcome that achieves a fair and just result for the matters addressed. The Health Board wishes to offer its sincere apologies and hopes this agreement will provide reassurance to Romeo and his family that his future needs can now be met.”
We welcome this statement and the willingness of the Health Board to acknowledge the impact this has had on Romeo and his family. The agreement reached reflects a fair outcome for the matters addressed and is an important step forward in ensuring that Romeo’s future care and needs can be appropriately supported.
What This Means for Romeo and His Family
While litigation can be protracted and emotionally challenging, we are encouraged that the parties have been able to find common ground and bring this chapter closer to resolution. This outcome will help provide Romeo and his loved ones with some reassurance and certainty going forward.
